  • 1  Correlation Analysis Between El Nino/La Nina Phenomenon During the Recent 100 Years and Beijing Climate

    Abstract:
    Results of the analysis suggest that during the recent 100 years there exists a strong correlation between the El Nino/La Nina phenomenon and Beijing′s rainfall in summer(June —August),mean monthly maximum temperature (July) and mean monthly minimum temperature in winter (January).El Nino phenomenon appears a negative-correlation with the summer rainfall and the mean monthly minimum temperature;whereas a positive correlation with the mean monthly maximum temperature in summer.La Nina phenomenon appears a positive correlation with the summer rainfall and the mean monthly minimum temperature in winter;whereas a negative-correlation with the mean monthly maximum temperature in summer.

    Abstract:
    Based on R/S analysis on mean temperature,water vapour pressure,relative humidity and sunshine percentage in winter(January),summer(July)and annual mean from 1951 to 1997 in Lanzhou city,the Hurst exponents of all the targets are beyond 0 5,which indicate that all the targets have evident Hurst phenomena.The results show that climate changes have a trend component and a persistent urbanization calefaction in the past 47 years in Lanzhou.The difference of the Hurst exponents among January,July and annual mean is considered to be the result of different intensity of urbanization climate effect on season in Lanzhou.

    The outline of MM5V3 modeling system,hardware and software required to run this system were introduced.The method of acquiring and installing the program pgf90 and NCAR Graphics was given.The main points of installing and running MM5V3 modeling system were stressed.And finally the method of converting MM5V3 outputs to v5d format files was given.

    Abstract:
    Using Marr wavelet and Morlet wavelet transforms,the variations of winter and summer precipitation in Shanghai during one hundred years were analysed.Some multi-time-scale and jump features of the variations were discoverd.These features are very important in short range climate forecast for Shanghai.The multi-time-scale pattern and the background of Shanghai winter and summer precipitation were given.

    Abstract:
    An analysis of the heavy rain over the Changjiang River basin during 21—22 July 1998 was made.It is mainly to inquire into the problems with the genesis and development of the meso-β scale convective systems which caused severe convective weather.The results show that the environmental conditions,especially the interaction between the upper-level and lower-level jets for the formation of deep convection is very important.

    Abstract:
    The modified Q-vector methed was applied to diagnose the torrential rain in Shandong during 11—13 August,1999.The results show that the Q*-Vector towards the torrential rain are and the position of the Q*-vector convergence at 850 and 700hPa is correlated well to the ascending motion and torrential rain area.It is found that storm rainfall occured in the warm air side of the Q*-Vector moist frontogenesis zone at 850 and 500hPa.

    Abstract:
    The synoptic situation,features,genetic cause and prediction of a heavy dust devil event on 18 April,1998 were analysed.The special weather was caused by a new genetical and dry squall line in the dry-hot clear area in front of a large-scale front.It is impossible to predict the severe weather by the conventional monitoring and prediction.

    Abstract:
    The collapse of TV iron tower of the teaching TV station at Bozhou,Anhui province on 30 August 1999 is caused by a squall.The iron tower endured much great wind beyond the limit criterion in GBJ9 87.Additional,the iron tower locates on one high building near to another high building,these two high buildings form a ′hom′ that makes the wind speed swifter than otherwhere,the high speed wind collapses the TV iron towere.This conclusion is beneficial to the study of high building and iron towere building criterion.
