  • 1  Effects of the Tropical Pacific Convective Activities on China's Winter Monsoon

    Based on monthly mean OLR data,and wind field at 300hPa,and by applying Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) technique,the relationship between the convective activities over the Pacific and China's winter monsoon was mainly studied. The results show that the instantaneous correlation between monsoon circulation and convective activities over the tropical Pacific is significant. The leading correlation between OLRA (anomalous) over the tropical Pacific and winter monsoon indicated seasonal and regional dependence. China's winter monsoon is obviously not only associated with OLRA over the equational central Pacific in last summer ,but also associated with OLRA over the western tropical Pacific in last fall. The significant areas in China include southern China and some parts of northwest of China.
    2  Analysing Troposphere Air Moisture Content with Single Radiosonde Station Data

    By using of the convention radiosonde data (standard pressure level and significant pressure level) of Beijing from the mid July to the 10th of August in 1996 and 1997,the air mixing ratio,drew moisture content vertical distribution profiles were calculated and the atmosphere was classified into four types according to the profiles. By integration of troposphere mixing ratio,the accumulated water content of troposphere (08:00 and 20:00) in Beijing was counted. It was found that the total water content of air columm was related to the precipitation. It provided the basis for precipitation area.Comparing this result to the remote sensing vapor and liquid water data obtained with microwave radiometer,it has been found that some valuable results can be used for other new sounding technique (e.g. GPS sensing of atmospheric water vapor for meteorology)

    Forecasting and explaining the sudden changes of tropical cyclones is one of the most difficult problems in the present meteorology. This research has been conducted for thirty years and found that it is all trigger by the depressed tide generating forces resonance (TGFR) that the abrupt changes of the tropical cyclones' strength and the torrential rainstorms after their landing. That causes all the abrupt changes of tropical cyclones' way and moving speed: the TGFR bring on the sudden changes of subtropical high outside the tropical cyclones,this arouses the leading airflow unexpectedly change its direction or strength.

    Based on consulting the documents about the different microtherms index for agricultrue in China and the statistical analysis of temperature data,the new microtherm standard in spring of Yunnan Province was proposed to the operational requirements. Comparing to the old microtherm standard for cold of the late spring and late frost index,the new standard is much more flexible and practical.

    The process of heavy torrentail rain in 13 August 1997 was analysed. The results revealed various features of enviromental physics field before heavy torrential rain appearance. It is found that the strong gradient of physics field has an important effect both on the occurrence and the development of heavy torrential rain,it also provides the evidence to the forecasts of the rainfall area about the formation,the development and the movement of the strong gradient belt of physics field.

    The method of numerical integral single weighted function can be used to estimate the Pearson Type Ⅲ distribution and the estimation of values of different annual maximum diurnal precipitation return preiod in some of the cities in China was calculated. It suggested that the numerical integarl single weighted function method can basically pass the inspection and the result qualifies the precision.

    The sounding data from the Doppler radar TDR 3600 the Capital Airport were used to analyze the characteristics of radial velocity of severe convective weather in micro and meso scale,such as supercell,squall line and shear line et al.,and explain the information of wind fields it supplies.
    8  The Indentification Method of Three Parameters Probability of Hail Cloud over Shandong Province

    Based on the radar echoes,information of weather conditions and the catastrophe in Shandong prvince,the correlation between the top height of echo vault Hm,severe echo vault region Hz,the strength of the echo vault Z and the hail fall probability was analysed. The discrimination indices of the hail in single and bi parameter were provided. The parameters formula incorporating with conditional probability of hail was used to identify hail cloud. It showed the use of the three parameters discriminatory index for hail forecast. This is very important for the forecasting of severe convective weather.
    9  Study of Temperature Forecasting method at the County level based on the NWP Product

    The NWP fields of T.H.U.V. of NMC's T63,T106 and ECMWF's numerical model were separtely interpoleted into 108 meteorological stations. The interpoleted results were used as predicting factors to establish predicting equations of max. and min. tempreture by means of PPM,MOS and KF filter methods. With the above predicted results,the second filter consensus forecast and perfect consensus forecast were made,and the Temperatute Forecasting System for Every County by the provincial meteorological observatory based on the NWP product was developed. The operational practics from June to November in 1997 proved that the system showed good predicting results.

    The rainstorm forecast system during the flood period in the region of Yellow River Delta was developed based on the classification of synoptical meteorology by combining the numerical forecast products in Japan and the actual data from 1990 to 1995. The system was used in forecasting (rainstorm) in 1996 and proved very effective.

    By contrasting the data of the Cerebral Haemorrhage invasion rate of sampling mass to the previous meteorological data in Beijing Area,annual variations and years' variation tendency of several ages' invasion rate were revealed. The relationship between the previous meteorological conditions and the invasion rate was discussed,and five level resolution statistical models were designed which possessed of a predictive significance. The F verification proved that it has a better predictive effect.
    12  A Preliminary Study on Multi function Drought Preventing Agents

    By spraying Multi function drought preventing agents onto winter wheat,photosynthesis was increased by 14~28 percent compared with that of the natural plot. Stomata resistance was increased by 24~51 percent. Transpiration was decreased by 1~9 percent. Water use efficiency was increased by 2~27 percent. The weight of 1000 grains of winter wheat and yield were raised by 2~6 and 2~7 percent respectively. These indicate that the multi function drought preventing agents have the function of promoting growth,decreasing transpiration,and raising yield for winter wheat.
