  • 1  The Total Energy Variation during the Northward after Typhoon 9608 Landfall over China and The Maintenance of Bohai Japanese Sea High

    Firstly,variations of the total energy and its compositions at the central area of the lan- ded Typhoon 9608,which belongs to the pattern of the interaction between Typhoon and westerly trough,have been analysed.The results show that as a result of the latent heat en ergy increase,the total energy increased once again.But the increase of the latent heat energy was closely related to the low level jet of east by south wind on the east side of the Typhoo.And,within the east-north quadrant of the Typhoon the latent heat energy increaseed vigorously,and there is the maximum rainfall area as well.Secondly,using the arrangements between the divergent wind field and the rotation wind field at upper level of the troposphere,and the conversion relation between the kinetic energies of the divergent wind and the rotation wind,the variation tendency for maintaining the upper level anticyclonic circulation located on the east of Typhoon and over Bohai Sea-Japanese sea has been estimated by eyes.The divergent wind flowed from upper level over the depression area was advantageous to maintain and strengthen the upper anticyclonic circulation.Finally,the east-west vertical circulation scheme of the pattern of the interaction between Typhoon and westerly trough is given.
    2  Effects of the Tropical Pacific Convective Activities on Precipitation and Temperature over China in Summer

    Based on monthly mean OLR data over the tropical Pacific,precipitation data,air temperature data,and with the application of correlation analysis,the relationship between the convective activities over the central and western Pacific and the precipitation and temperature patterns over China in summer was studied. The results show that the summer precipitation anomalies in the regions between the Yangtze River and Huaihe basins are related to the earlier tropical Pacific convective activities anomalies (OLRC and OLRW) in spring and summer. Besides,the Summer precipitation over Northeast China is correlated with OLRW in last winter and spring,but not with OLRC over the central tropical Pacific. OLR anomalies over the central Pacific and the western Pacific in last winter exerts an obvious effects on temperares over China in summer. The affected areas are different. The former is southern China and Southwest China while the latter is Northeast China and Inner Mongolia. The instantaneous correlation between OLR over the tropical Pacific and temperature in China is not statistically significant.
    3  An Improved Model for Soil Water Balance

    A water balance sub model of crop growth model,CERES wheat model,which was established originally by American scientist J.T. Ritchie et al.,was applied to simulate soil moisture of a fixed winter wheat plot at the Xifeng Agrometeorological Experimental Station,Gansu Province,located in semi arid zone. Corrections were made to estimate potential evapotranspiration,soil surface evaporation,crop transpiration,and root density and maximum rooting depth. Both the density and depth were represented as two functions of crop developmental stages respectively. The improvement achieved good results in soil moisture prediction and may provide a convenient and practical method for management of croped soil moisture in arid or semi arid zone.
    4  Distribution Features of Turbulent Diffusion Coefficient in Stratiform Clouds over Shandong Province

    The turbulent diffusion coefficient is calculated with and without clouds in different weather systems at different time. The main results show that the turbulent coefficient of 3~4km height level distributes mainly between 20 and 70m2·s-1 in clouds,and less than 30m2·s-1 in cloud free areas. The turbulent coefficients in clouds generally increase with height,and little differences exist in every layer between winter and summer half years.

    Smog pollution in the ground layer atmosphere over Xining city,Qinghai province was analysed with the NOAA 12 remote sensing images obtained in cloudless dawns from 1993 to 1997. First,smog characteristics of the remote sensing images were studied. Second,the latitude and longitude of the smog area was calculated with these characteristics. Finally,the generation conditions of smog pollution over Xining city were given,and it suggested that the ground layer atmosphere over Xining city in winter is favourable to smog generation.
    6  Prediction of Northern High Wind on County Level in Zibo City in Winter

    The climatic distribution feature of northern high wind in Zibo city,Shandong province in winter was analysed. Using PP method,many criteria were selected to forecast northern high wind on county level in winter based on first forecasting equation. The results show that this method has certain value in the operational forecast.
    7  Radar Echo Parameters of Severe Precipitation in Jiangxi Province

    Using the Radar-713 detecting rain data,the radar echo parameter characteristics of severe precipitation in Jiangxi Province was analysed statistically. The results show that the severe precipitation was related to echo top height,echo strength,level scale and topographic condition as well. The parameter characteristics provide a reference for the forecasting of severe precipitation.

    On the basis of MOS foecast system,making full use of various meteorological information provided by the real time database at Ningxia meteorological observatory many forecast methods were developed and have been applied to climatic background and actual observation. MOS forecast results were corrected step by step with interaction method. Finally the medium range weather forecast in different areas in Ningxia Autonomous Region three to seven days in advance was given.

    The ambient fields for much high wind and hail were analysed by the atmoshpere general circulation,humidity front,high and low level jet and kinetic energy of vorticity and divergent components over south Yunnan in spring in 1997. The new knowledge about the variations of south trough in westerlies,humidity gradient in low level,jet and perpendicular velocity,and kinetic energy of vorticity and divergent components were obtained and the results are valuable in forecasting.

    By using the water vapor imagery,the strong rainfall for dry season in the Three Gorges region are predicted in 1996. It is proved that there are many information only on the water vapor imagery but not on the IR picture and the visible picture. This kind of information is very important for predicting strong rainfall.
    11  The Analysis of the Last Heavy Rain of Mei yu Period in the North Zhejiang Province

    The climate characteristics of the last heavy rain of Mei yu period in North Zhejiang province from 1961 to 1995 was analysed. By analyzing circulation situation,temperature advection and height field change at 500 hPa,the climate regulation of the last heavy rain of Mei yu period in North Zhejiang province was presented. The results showed that the last heavy rain was related to the South eastward Mongolia warm high,the eastward Plateau warm high and daily mean height rising over Mongolia or the Plateau. The forecasting focus of the last heavy rain of Mei yu period in the North Zhejiang province was suggested.

    By using of satellite water vapor imagery,radar data and conventional observation,a squall line weather event over Shandong province was analysed,and water vapor borders and their nearby physics conditions were also studied. This provided a thinking for a short term weather forecast.
    13  The Long range Prediction Models of Winter Wheat Gibberellin Occurrence Extent

    The occurence of winter wheat gibberellin mainly depends on the weather condition. The general circulation factors at 500hPa are the physical quantities that represent weather course of large area and the influntial weather conditions as well. Some factors of general circulation at 500hPa correlated with winter wheat gibberellin in significance and stability,were found out by optimum analysis for different regions in Jiangsu province. Finally the long range prediction models for influnce extent of winter wheat gibberellin were developed based on these factors.
