    Abstract:
Monthly and seasonal tropical circulation characteristics associated with the severe rainfall in the Jianghuai Area during the summer of 1991 are investigated by comparative analysis. The spectrum analyses on wind fields show that the anomaly of tropical circulation is closely related with the stable rainfall band. The southly flow field with positive anomaly in the Bay of Bangal and South China Sea contributes to the severe rainfall in the Jianghuai Area. The flow generated from the Bay brings much more water vapour and plays a more important role. The oscillation of the tropical wind fields presents with the cycling periods the same with those of the rainfall perturbation, which seems to be one of the important factors causing the rainfall cycle.

    Abstract:
Based on the 42-year data from 1949 to 1990,a study on the variation of the typhoons landing on Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces are made. The typhoons are characterized by their average intensity, pressure and area of the gale ring before/after their landing on the continent. At the same time, a climatic analysis on the origin of the typhoons as well as their landfall time and landfall place are made. The results show that the study is greatly helpful to the operational forecasting of the typhoons landing on the Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces.

    Abstract:
To raise the efficiency of the meteorological services system and to keep the pace with scientific-technical advancement of the world,a VSAT-based satellite communication network is required. This operational and technical network should meet the requirement of meteorological data transmission and could be used to have all the LANs of Meteorological Services interconnected so that data resources could be shared via this network. One of the important ideas on the design is the selection of the frequencies used by the network. Ku band is considered to be suitable for the meteorological agencies those locate in urban areas, because the band is less influenced by the terrestrial microwave. The topology of network is combined by star and mesh networking to meet the requriements of data transmission and distributed processing and to provide with the flexibility for voice communication and data exchange, multi-address mode also plays an important role for higher network efficiency. A-ALOHA mode is a more advanced technique, which could be adapted for better meteorological information transmission.
