    Abstract:
A simple method to improve the forecast accuracy of geopotential height in numerical models is described here. The method combines the objectively analysed height field and model-produced height tendency to form a final forecast rather than forecasts the height itself directly. The preliminary results of six tests show that the RMS error of height forecast has been reduced from 2.91 to 1.93 ten meters and correlation coefficient increased from 0.879 to 0.941.

    Abstract:
Taking into account the matched relationship between sunlight, heat and water resources and growing law of masson pine itself, a new comprehensive model with climate factors is established for the productivities of masson pines in various elevations and different side of the mountains. In the model, the variations of the meteorological elements, such as, temperature, precipitation and sunshine, in the mountainous areas are amended. The results show that the optimum height for climatic productivity is agreeable to the optimum growing potential of masson pines. The optimum height for the growth of masson pines is determined in the mountainous areas.

    Abstract:
The vertical distribution of static energy profile was studied using data collected in Singapore during five NE (northern winter) monsoon seasons (Dec-Feb) from 1984 to 1989. The analysis shows that when there was no latent instability energy in the atmospheric column, the saturated total temperature inversion near the top of the boundary layer (950-900 hPa) can be used to predict the occurrence of afternoon sea-breeze in Singapore.A statistical analysis was also carried out to study the relationship between sea-breeze and the prevailing wind. The possible cause of the saturated total temperature inversion layer was also discussed.
