    Abstract:
This paper describes briefly the last 40 year's development of main operational aspects of China's meteorological work,i.e.various meteorological station network, meteorological telecommunication, satellite meteorology and meteorological satellite, weather forecast, climatology and climatic data and specialized meteorology. During Its 40 year's development the progress made in the latest 10 years is most prominent and significant. Therefore, it is described with emphasis in the paper. In fact, an outline has been given on the present status and level of China's main aspects of operational meteorological work through the description.

    Abstract:
An extensive review of the progress made in ihe research aspect o meteorology in China for the last. 40 years is presutiled.lt covers the eight topics as follows, the meteorological observation, artificial weather modification, atmospheric physics and chemistry, general circulation and its numerical simulation, monsoon in East Asia and large-scale dynamics in tropics,meso-scale meteorology, climatic change, applied meteorology and agrometeorology.
3  A general plan on Shanghai operational real-time weather prediction system
    朱永禔
    1989, 15(10):21-26. DOI: 10.7519/j.issn.1000-0526.1989.10.003

    Abstract:
An operational real-time weather prediction system of the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau is introduced. The system is a fine example for the operational meteorological modernization in last 10 years in China.
    4  On North-west Pacific Cloud-Radiation Experiment
    赵柏林
    1989, 15(10):31-35. DOI: 10.7519/j.issn.1000-0526.1989.10.005

    Abstract:
In this paper, the North-west Pacific Cloud-Radiation Experiment program is cletailedly described. The first experiment at Shionomissald, Japan, Feb.-Mar. of 1989 is discussed. A new dual - channal (λ = 8rnm-1.35cm) microwave radiometer, developed by B.eijing University, has been used in field experiments for remote-sensing of the atmospheric- water vapor content, liquid water content in a cloud and liquid water content distribution of the total clouds over the sky. The rain process of clouds is studied, too.
5  Humidity conditions-during continuously rainy March in the areas south to Chang Jiang River and north to Five Ridges
    傅焕宇 邬治芸 夏洪星
    1989, 15(10):36-42. DOI: 10.7519/j.issn.1000-0526.1989.10.006
    [Abstract](574) [HTML](0) [PDF 661.61 K](946)
    Abstract:
Based on comparison and analysis, it is shown that there is a quasi-static specific humidity front with a slope of. 1/230 and accompanied by a stronger southerly wind in the lower layer during the continuously rainy March in the areas south to the Changjiang River and north to the Five Ridges. The humidity inversion in the lower layer may be related to the specific humidity front over the areas.
6  Preliminary study of a mesosynoptic case in early spring

    Abstract:
In this paper, a severe convective system causing hail and gale over some areas of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River on Mar. 3, 1987 is analysed. It has been found that there are four obvious undulations on the barograph trace at the stations of the south suburbs of Shanghai and the northern Zhejiang, which are corresponding to four mesohighs with the characteristics of the gravitational wave at an average speed of 90 km/h by means of a time-to-space conversion.Calculation shows that a deep SW wind layer, strong vertical wind shear, ageostrophic properties in the upper troposphere and Rossby number over 0.45 can be regarded as some diagnostic criteria of the large scale field, moreover, computed convergence center, ridge line of the total energe, convergence line etc. may be significant for nowcastings of the location and direction of the moving severe convective system by use of the data from the denser surface network.
