    Abstract:
    In recent years, a lot of studies have confirmed that the active/break cycle of summer monsoon is associated with the behaviour of low-frequency mode. The 30-60 day oscillation plays an important role in the interannual variations of tropical circulation. In this study, some results of three aspects will be introducted briefly.

    Abstract:
    The change of hourly surface physical parameter fields during the process of severe thunderstorm is analysed in this paper, using the data obtained from Eastern China Meso-scale Weather Experiment. Results of the study show: there exist an immidiate relation between the fields of θse,divv and the activities of thunderstorm, the characteristics of meso-scale turbulence are different at various stages of weather development, they have certain indicative meanings for the weather change during short period. In the basis of this analysis, we have proposed a conceptual model for the four stages of development of severe convective weather, in Eastern China, Results obtained were of benefit to understanding such meso-scale turbulence and nowcas-ting of severe convective weather.
    3  A case study of the wetting loss experiments in the rain gauge

    Abstract:
    The concept of the wetting loss of a raingage and the factors affectting the wetting loss are introduced.The amount of the wetting loss of the standard gage of China has been determined after the analysis of the data of wetting loss, which have been collected by the wetting experiments with a gage and the observations in natural conditions. And the wetting losses in the precipitation measurement in the area of the head of Wulumuqi river in summer have been corrected.
    4  A survey of heat budget on the West Tropical Pacific

    Abstract:
    The marine meteorological data collected with the vessel "Xiangyanghong No. 14, China" and other ships have been used in this study to evaluate net radiation, latent and sensible heat exchanges, and the net heat gain by the sea surface. It is shown that the measure of the net heat gain by the sea surface is related to the increase and reduction of the Equatorical Convergence Zone. Meanwhile, the heat fluxes transfer from sea surface to atmosphere would be by means of the latent heat.This study has also emphasized that the supporting atmosphere energy from sea surface may take place on the tropical zone of the West Pacific (by 10 °N) rather than on the equatorical zone during this investigation, February 8-14, 1986.
    5  The seasonal characteristic of sodar echo of the planetary boundary layer in the area near mountain

    Abstract:
    According to sodar observation in the area near montain close to Baijing in win ter and summer, the seasonal variation of sodar echo was compared and the characteristic development of the inversion and mixing layer was analyzed in winter and summer. It was preliminary discussed the relationship between several kindes of ech. modes and wind profiles.
