Abstract:
A dust weather process occurred in Henan Province during 11-13 April, 2006. By u sing NCEP reanalysis data (horizontal resolution 1°×1°) and the simultaneou s sounding, surface air observational records, a mesoscale numerical simulati on and diagnostic analysis applying dry intrusion theory was made for this proce ss. The results showed that the dry air intrusions obviously play a significant role in this process. The air of high potential vorticity and low humid slip peddown southward along with dense strips of equivalent potential temperatu re, which caused disturbances of potential vorticity and temperature in midlow level of troposphere. These disturbances led to strong cold advection southward and low pressure trough moving eastward and cold front southward, which affecte d together and triggered instable weather. Meanwhile with low level convergence and high level divergence, they caused this dust weather.
