Abstract:This paper examines the. usefulness of static energy analysis in the deep-eonvective equatorial Singapore region. Singapore upper air data have been used to study the vertical profiles of energy for 1984 and 1985. Some preliminary results are:(1) Most of the atmospheric stratification over the equatorial Singapore region is found to be associated with the- latent instability energy.(2) The 12 hours' weather forecasting over Singapore can be issued according to the extent, of latent instability energy.(3)The average energy level and latent energy over Singapore vary with seasons, The maxima occurred during transitional periods and minima during SW and early RE monsoon.
