Abstract:The cause of the southward withdraw of the west Pacific subtropical high in July 1998 was discussed by using of the OLR formula.It suggests that this OLR method describing daily behavior of the west Pacific subtropical high is favorable for exploring the effect of strong tropical convective cloud cluster on the subtropical high.
